Strength and Conditioning Workshop

The WSP Club Development Seminar Series began on Monday 19th September with Gary Walsh delivering a seminar on Strength and Conditioning for sports coaches. Thirty five people from twenty two clubs representing nine sports attended the seminar held in Waterford Warriors Gym.

The Seminar focussed on simple strength and conditioning exercises for all ages that can be incorporated into all coaches training sessions and covered the five training periods form pre season to off season.

Course participant Nicky Jacob from St Saviour's GAA said ‘The course was very informative. During it I was continuously thinking how would this be implemented at club level. Some of the things Gary mentioned we had done previously with the club so it is good to know we are on the right track’.

Shirley Moore from Waterford Hockey Club said ‘very informative course with a presenter who really knows everything and was very passionate about this area.’

Seminar presenter Gary Walsh said ‘Great start to the series, delighted with the interaction from all the coaches with the work we covered with different exercises for different points in the season. I was absolutely thrilled with the participation levels by all and looking forward to the rest of the WSP Seminar Series as there are some great speakers lined up. ’.
