REGISTER NOW! Concussion Awareness Seminar

Waterford Sports Partnership is delighted to announce the launch of their 2015 Club Development Seminar Series. The 2015 series marks a commitment from National Governing Bodies and Waterford Sports Partnership to deliver on common goals of increasing participation, coach education and safe involvement in sport.

WSP are delighted that Athletics Ireland, Camogie Association, FAI, GAA, Irish Amateur Boxing Association, Munster Rugby and Swim Ireland are sharing their knowledge and expertise in delivering course to members of all sports.

Over the coming months there will be eight seminars delivered by respective National Governing Bodies that are open to all coaches, volunteers, parents and participants. These seminars include: Strength and Conditioning (FAI); Effective use of Social Media (WSP); Speed Development (Athletics Ireland); Warm Up, Stretching and Movement (GAA); Dealing with Challenging Behaviour (WSP/Michael Carruth); Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation (Camogie) and Club Roles and Structures (Swim Ireland).

The first seminar is a Concussion Awareness Seminar which will be delivered by IRFU First Aid and Injury Prevention coordinator Shane Mooney on Monday 9th March in the Park Hotel, Dungarvan from 7 to 9pm.

Concussion awareness is currently a hot topic nationally for player welfare in all sports and WSP are delighted to offer all sports the chance to benefit from the expertise of the IRFU. Gary Power, Waterford Football Development Officer said ‘Any knowledge on concussion awareness is of the utmost importance in all sports and can only benefit coaches in providing safe and effective player welfare’.
