Week 5 of Active Body Active Mind Programme

Week five of Active Body Active Mind and the ladies got their groove on with a Zumba class and then loosened up with a Pilates Class!

The Zumba session was led by Adriana Zarins in Dunhill Sports and Leisure Centre and included a warm up followed by five high energy songs with Adriana leading the participants and teaching them the steps.  None of the participants had tried Zumba before and commented that dancing is a great way to get exercise in and have fun at the same time.

After a well deserved break the participants took part in a Pilates session led by Maria Malone in the Dunhill Education Centre. The session included stretching and core exercises with Maria teaching the participants the correct breathing and posture for each exercise. The group really enjoyed the contrast of the Zumba and the Pilates and noted how it was brilliant to test their fitness with different activities they had never tried before.

After the sessions the participants were given details of weekly class schedules for both activities and some of the group said that they would definitely consider attending on a regular basis. Well done to the participants for trying new activities and giving it their all! Week six will see the ladies taking part in a clothing repairs module on Tuesday and a Rugby taster session on Thursday.
