It's time to gear up for the 12k Kelly Spin! - ON SATURDAY 24th AUGUST

On Saturday 24th August the up and coming cyclists of the future will get their chance to get out and active on their bikes in the company of over 1000 others on a partially traffic free route around Dungarvan, Abbeyside, the Old Railway Line, Clonea Road and Ballinacourty in the 12k Kelly Spin.

Open to all cyclists of 8 years and over, entry is just €2 and you may register on the day of the event at the Causeway Tennis Club, Abbeyside from 10 a.m. The action starts at 11:30 a.m.  Come early to enjoy the atmosphere and also take the opportunity to support South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA), the nominated charity for the 12k Kelly Spin.  SEMRA has been a welcome sight on the hills and mountains in the South East of Ireland for over 37 years.  During that time many people have been located and rescued by the team’s many volunteers.

The team will be hosting a raffle on the day, with lots of wonderful prizes, in order to raise much needed funds as part of a major new fundraising drive for the building a Vehicle Storage Unit in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.  SEMRA members, all of whom are volunteers, will be out in force in advance and following the 12k event and will be displaying their state of the art base vehicle and rescue equipment.  It’s a great opportunity to meet the team and see what’s involved in keeping people safe on the mountains of the South East of Ireland.  It’s also a great opportunity to show your appreciation of the great service provided by SEMRA and its voluntary members who are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  There will be lollies aplenty for all the children in attendance! SEMRA are delighted to be beneficiaries of this wonderful event having had a strong association with the Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford since the early years.
SUNDAY 25th AUGUST 2013
5000 cyclists from all over Ireland and abroad have registered to take part in one of the three events on Sunday 25th August; the 50k Kelly Cruise, 100k Kelly Heritage Route and the 160k Kelly Comeragh Challenge. Entry for the Sunday routes is now closed and there will be no facility to enter on the weekend of the event. Dungarvan is gearing up for another fantastic weekend of cycling fun!
