Great turnout for Dunmore East Wood Walk

Waterford Sports Partnership was delighted to see such a great turnout for the Walk Waterford Dunmore East Wood Walk last Saturday 2nd February. Ninety five people met to take part in the second walk of the spring series and also enjoy the launch of the Waterford County Council Walk Waterford brochure which details twenty of the top walks in Waterford.
The Dunmore East Wood Walk is an easy 3km loop which starts in the park, meanders through the woods and returns to the park via an easy stroll through the picturesque village of Dunmore East. The views are spectacular and the setting is magical, if you were not able to make last Saturday’s walk it is well worth a trip.
Waterford Sports Partnership’s Walk Waterford programme is designed to give Waterford people the opportunity to experience some of the many fantastic walks Waterford has to offer.  This free programme incorporating a series of five walks is aimed at those looking for a leisure stroll on easy terrain. Everyone is welcome!
The next walk this coming Saturday 9th February is the Glenshelane River Walk, Cappoquin. This is an easy 4km walk which will take just over an hour to an hour and a half.  Glenshelane or ‘The Glen of the Fairies’ is a river walk in one of Coillte’s most tranquil forests.

To get to the start of this walk you will need to go to Cappoquin, once in Cappoquin take the R669 eastwards (Melleray direction). Take the right at the junction where there is a statue between two roads. Cross the bridge and turn immediately left into the Glenshelane car park.
We will be meeting there at 10.45 am.

Walkers need only flat walking shoes; runners are ideal, warm clothing and a waterproof jacket. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  For more information contact Waterford Sports Partnership’s Jane O’Dwyer 086 1985729.  We hope to see you there.
