Winter Walking Challenge - Update - Week 1

The Winter Walking Challenge is now in its second week and we have been getting fantastic reports back from the group co-ordinators.  The weather is no match for our enthusiastic steppers, they are putting on their jackets, their woolly hats and getting out there - well done!
There are 13 groups in all taking part with a total of 86 people from across Waterford involved in the four week programme.  Here are the average weekly steps for each group -

Well done to all the groups. Most of you are not far off climbing Mount Blanc in France (30,420 steps) and we even have a few groups near or past the distance of Mount Everest (58,070 steps)!!

From now on it will be all about the improvements each group makes every week. So make sure to try and do a few more steps this week. This week we visited ‘Survival of the Fittest’ who meet every Thursday to take on the hill on the Dunmore Road, Waterford City. They walk for approximately an hour and even do a few warm-up moves before they go.  Great to see you ladies keep up the good work!

We also managed to catch most of the ‘Pink Steppers’ on Tuesday before they stepped out on their weekly stroll.  They looked fantastic in their pink high viz vests.  There are 13 women in the Pink Steppers group however some were so keen to get going they wouldn’t wait for the photo!

We look forward to meeting more groups next week.  Remember to keep working on those steps let’s see if we can increase them from last week’s figures.
